October is here and bringing in some fresh Autumn vibes. Check out this month’s roundup of festive, womxn focused, and culture based events!

Ayumi Goto and Peter Morin: how do you carry the land? At the Vancouver Art Gallery: Toronto-based artist Ayumi Goto (of the traditional territories of the Mississaugas of the New Credit, the Haudenosaunee, the Anishinaabe and the Huron-Wendat), and Peter Morin have created a “performance art practice informed by their perspectives as a Japanese diasporic woman and Tahltan First Nations man. Together, Goto and Morin investigate their distinctive relationships to place in this presentation of new installations and reassembled documentation from their individual and collaborative performances over the past six years.”

Kamloopa: Opening the Cultch’s 2018/2019 season is the high-energy Indigenous matriarchal play by Kim Senklip Harvey. Focusing on two urban Indigenous sisters, the story navigates visions, evocative occurrences, multigenerational complications, and the question of identity. With others beside them, the sisters travel to BC”s biggest Powwow, Kamloopa, and beyond. Don’t miss this powerful play about the transformational journey of Indigenous matriarchs!
