Disney’s NEWSIES at Theatre Under the Stars: “In 1899, New York City had its papers delivered by an army of ragged orphans and runaways called ‘newsies’. When newspaper owners raise distribution prices at the newsies’ expense, this band of misfits unites to strike against the unfair conditions. A soaring spectacle of powerful song and high-kicking dance, Newsies is packed with non-stop thrills and a timeless message for the whole family.”

Pride in Chinatown 2019: “A one night only magical twilight event in a spectacular setting in the heart of Vancouver’s historical Chinatown. This will be an interdisciplinary art experience that will feature new experimental and traditional art forms which include electronic music, immersive theatre, media art installations, lion dancing, martial arts, drums, opera, culinary treats, drag and other non-binary encounters.”

Vancouver Mural Festival: The beloved Vancouver Mural Festival returns this year with 10 days of events and painting. See more than 25 new murals, music stages, live art, food trucks, beer gardens, markets, and more.

Chilliwack Sunflower Festival: This year, Chilliwack Sunflower Festival is gearing up to be bigger and better! Come out to see a new field with 48 varieties of dahlias, adding a whole new display of colour. As normal, their known fields of Giant Mammoth Sunflowers are in full bloom.

Tacofino Pride Weekend Drag Bingo Party: Tacofino is getting loud and proud for Vancouver’s annual Pride Festival weekend. On August 2, local drag queens Mina Mercury and Carlotta Gurl will host four feisty rounds of interactive Drag Bingo. In addition, from August 2-4 all of Tacofino’s Vancouver restaurants will feature a pride-themed ‘Te Amo’ cocktail, with $2 from every sale going to charity.

2019 Vancouver Street Dance Festival: As the largest outdoor street festival in the Pacific Northwest, you don’t want to miss this Vancouver gem! The event features six distinct street-dance styles in dance battles, workshops, performances, and more.

Pride at MOA- From a Riot to a Revolution: “Join MOA to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Stonewall—the New York City riots that sparked the modern fight for LGBTQ+ rights and blossomed into an international rainbow celebration of diversity, inclusion and human rights, now known worldwide as Pride. Watch three documentaries that capture different queer experiences and expressions of the past 50 years.”
