Ballet BC is capping off their sensational 30th Anniversary season with Program 3, opening this Thursday, May 12.
The third instalment of the season presents much anticipated work by the company’s own artistic director Emily Molnar, Tel Aviv’s Sharon Eyal, and Finnish-born choreographer Jorma Elo.
Program 3 is set to open with a remount of Molnar’s 16+ A Room. The piece is a look at “Molnar’s unique choreographic language through a complex study of time, transition, and stillness, where the space between is as important as the space occupied, where one is left with the feeling of both liberty and disappearance.”
Second on the program is the Canadian premiere of Bill. Now the Artistic Director of her own company, L-E-V, Eyal’s fresh and forward choreography enters the Queen Elizabeth stage with a performance that “showcases Eyal’s trademark shifts from large group to smaller ensemble; which in turn morph into breathtaking solos.”
Program 3 completes the show with another remount: Jorma Elo’s I and I am You. After a successful 2011 debut with Ballet BC, the company is delighted to welcome him back to the Queen Elizabeth stage. I and I am You features Elo’s signature “lightning-fast musicality interspersed with moments of enormous intimacy and tenderness,” bound to conclude the night with another standing ovation.
PROGRAM 3 plays the Queen Elizabeth Theatre at 8 p.m. May 12-14, 2016. Tickets range from $30 to $90 (including service charges) and can be purchased through Ticketmaster at 1-855-985-2787 (855-985-ARTS) or online at ticketmaster.ca.
