Babes Who Brunch: Dine Out Vancouver’s Brunch Crawls

In a lip-smacking twist of events, our usual Babes Who Brunch spot has been hijacked for a quadruple-y tasty Brunch Crawl. Yeah, you read that right. A brunch crawl. Curated by Vancouver Foodster, neighbourhood brunch crawls are selling out at a break-neck pace as part of Dine Out Vancouver (running from Jan. 20 to Feb. 5).

By sampling brunch items from participating neighbourhood restaurants while burning off calories through scenic strolls, Vancouver Foodster in collaborating with Dine Out Vancouver is showcasing the best of Rain City’s breakfast offerings.

Loose Lips was invited to the Kitsilano Brunch Crawl this past Sunday, and we’re happy to share some of our hunger-inducing highlights.

Where

From First Ave to Fourth Ave, between Arbutus and Burrard, we hit Silk Road Tea, Rain or Shine Ice Cream, Be Fresh Market Cafe, Rocky Mountain Flatbread, and Kahve.

Hair of the Dog

We kicked off the morning with a warming flight of tea at Silk Road, including the London Fog Tea Latte and the Detox Wellness Tea. Moving onto a boozier brunch, we enjoyed shots of house-made Earl Grey Gin Iced Tea at Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co.

What we ate

Warming up the tummy with tea at Silk Road, we quickly jetted off to Rocky Mountain for some brunch pizza. We tasted the Yukon, a scrambled egg, smoked bacon, potato & tomato pie; the Sausage & Egg, with mozza, spinach and red onions; and the Market Breakfast, with mozza, eggs, veggies, a three-herb pesto and goat cheese.

Gunning for a second-wind, we had a cup of bulletproof coffee at Be Fresh Market Cafe. The coffee is blended with a healthy spoonful of grass-fed butter and a teaspoon of organic coconut oil to keep you from crashing. A creamy coconut and local blueberry muesli and an Upbeat Toast crostini, with a beet balsamic spread, housemade bruschetta, goat cheese and pea shoots, topped off the market experience.

We ended the tummy-testing tour with a pecan chewie at Kahve, and a scoop of Banana Pudding Ice Cream at Rain or Shine.

What we loved

Getting our steps in while enjoying what Vancouver’s neighbourhoods have to offer. Among standouts were the Be Fresh Market brunch-via-indie-grocery-shop vibe and warming our bellies with a soothing tea at Silk Road, where you can peruse gifts and knick knacks with a London Fog in hand.
