Deacon’s Corner serves up classic southern chicken n’ waffles to ease our hangovers

Where: Deacon’s Corner, 3189 W Broadway (Kits)

(They also have another location at 101 Main Street in Gastown).

Hair of the dog: Steigl’s Natural Grapefruit Radlers ($6.50), and good ol’ fashioned drip coffee ($2.75).

What we ate: The Chicken and Waffles ($12). You get a big piece of breaded fried chicken, two waffles (with syrup) and two eggs (we got ours poached).

What we loved: Staying true to their Southern USA theme, the 1950s-inspired diner walls are adorned with Elvis Presley memorabilia from photos of the King to Tupelo concert posters to newspaper clippings from his glory days.
