Local contemporary dance company To.Be.Announced is showcasing new work with 1/2/3 Edition, April 15 to 16 at the intimate Gold Saucer Studio in Gastown’s iconic Dominion Building

T.B.A produces movement-based work, often in engaging, and intimate venues aiming to provide a spotlight on local contemporary dance. Their mandate is to administer economical and supportive presentation opportunities for emerging and local artists so that they may exhibit their work with complete creative agency.

Past showcases have taken place at Vancouver’s Beaumont Studios and at the Fisherman’s Wharf Park in Victoria, BC.

“The Gold Saucer has recently become a hub for experimental artists working in dance, music and theatre. It’s run by a collective of artists that are so warm, welcoming and accommodating. There’s something magical about it as a performance space. It’s in one of the oldest buildings in the area, and it has a beautiful wood floor and old-fashioned windows that frame performers really beautifully,” says co-producer Jenn Edwards.

This program will be the company’s fourth choreographic performance since it’s 2015 inception. 1/2/3 Edition will showcase solos, duos, and trios by local talent: Jennifer Aoki, Gemma Crowe Marc Arbodela, Jenn Edwards, Carolina Bergonzoni, Tin Gamboa and Megan Friesen, Shion Carter and Samantha Wright, Jennifer McLeish-Lewis, Lily Cryan, Kylah Powell, and  Caitlin Griffin.

“We like to support experienced-emerging artists. These are dancers and choreographers who have a professional education and experience in their craft, but who have not been widely presented in larger venues yet. TBA’s mission is to help bridge that gap,” says T.B.A founder Carolyn Schmidt.

“Our showcases are a great opportunity for these emerging talents to perform and spread awareness of their work.”

1/2/3 Edition takes place at the Gold Saucer Studio, #211 – 207 West Hastings St, Saturday, April 15 to Sunday, April 16. Tickets are $10, cash only at the door. To reserve your tickets, please email to.be.announced.dance@gmail.com. You can learn about the event on Facebook.
