It’s no secret that Vancouver, being the #woke city it is, is teeming with ladypreneurs and female-forward businesses. In a specific corner of Gastown, however, there’s a concentrated number of babe bosses that happen to share a roof with us. Loose Lips Mag is honoured to work in Vancouver’s iconic Dominion Building, soaking up all of that female hustler energy.

Moment Meditation

Modern meditation at its finest. Co-founder Anita Cheung (you might remember her as the founder of the Social Yoga), along with a village of 19, has created a meditation haven on the third floor of the Dominion Building

“Enlightenment is great, sure, but your inbox is full and you can never seem to find time to clean your apartment. We get you. Our meditations are designed with you and your life in mind.  We use a combination of  research-backed, evidence-based mindfulness techniques to guide you to a calmer, more focused, and happier you.”

My Modern Closet

Consignment meets feminism. Founder, owner, and recent Top 30 Under 3O winner Chloe Popove is on a mission to extend the life of women’s wear. Shop her curated consignment goods (clothing, shoes, and now accessories) online, or better yet, pop into her fifth floor Dominion Building suite during the My Modern Closet studio hours.

Park&Fifth Co.

Bridesmaids, rejoice! Tacky, matchy matchy, dresses don’t have to be the only option. Park&Fifth Co. offers a boutique shopping experience for the modern, fashion forward woman, carrying items that can be worn for any occasion. Their goal is to provide clean, elegant, and stunning dresses, and separates that embody the feminine experience without the frill. As for the ethos behind Park&Fifth Co., collections are produced and sourced locally, with sustainability that the forefront. Scope the latest collections online here.

Kate Horsman

The ballet dancer-turned-model, designer, and now entrepreneur, Holistic Nutritionist and Natural Foods Chef, recently set up camp in the Dominion Building and has brought her Rebel Health method with her. She works with clients privately as well as through workshops and retreats specializing in women’s health, body image and eating disorder treatment, and plant-based nutrition. If this sounds like something you need in your life, there’s more. Kate will be co-hosting a retreat in Mexico this October, alongside Dr Genieve Burley, a prominent Vancouver Chiropractor and Yoga Instructor that focuses on natural nourishment for the body, mind, and soul. More on Kate Horsman’s practice and the upcoming retreat can be found online.

Women in Film + Television Vancouver

Women In Film + Television Vancouver (WIFTV) is one of 35 chapters of Women in Film across the world. The member-driven, not-for-profit society supports the artistic and professional development of women in the Canadian screen-based media community. Cozied up on the fifth floor, the organization recently put together the Vancouver International Women in Film Festival that kicked off, fittingly, on International Women’s Day and ran until March 12 at Vancity Theatre. Check out their events calendar for upcoming networking breakfasts and film showcases.

Open Media

The ladies at OpenMedia bring an all new meaning to keyboard warriors — and we’re not talking about internet arguers or armchair activists. Led by executive director Laura Tribe and community engagement specialist Aleks Besan on the fourth floor, OpenMedia’s mandate is to keep the Internet open, affordable, and surveillance-free. Their community-driven campaigns engage, educate, and empower people to safeguard the Internet.

Union Bridal

If the thought of sifting through a warehouse of organza wedding dresses, stepping up on a podium whilst stuffed into a sample-sized frock, surrounded by 20 other brides-to-be waiting their turn, sounds like a dystopian nightmare to you, you’re not alone. That’s why Emily and Sarah at Union Bridal have set up a stunning yet intimate studio setting for the unconventional bride.  The seventh-floor boutique offers up an exclusive selection of dresses from independent designers, and books private fittings. Prices range from $2,000 to $8,000 with the majority landing at $3,500. Still need to say yes to the dress? Book your appointment here.
